Actually it's not a waste of space: there is an analytical version of the 
integrated DOS which is much more precise, eg. to get the Fermi level. And 
to boot it doesn't take much time. All this is implemented with the 
improved Blochl version, and Xavier has it. Should be in the next abinit.
