- Subject: Can the GW calculation run in parallel?
- Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2005 16:06:53 +0800
Dear all,
I am trying to do some GW calculations with abinit 4.4.3.
I tried lesson #6 in the tutorial section, especially I focus on the case with
t69.in as the input file. I run abinis as well as abinip using 4 nodes.
Both calculations give the correct results, however, I don't see any speed up of
the parallel version.
The end of the output from abinip reads:
================================================================================-
- Proc. 0 individual time (sec): cpu= 948.6 wall= 995.3
================================================================================
Calculation completed.
Delivered 11 WARNINGs and 2 COMMENTs to log file.
+Overall time at end (sec) : cpu= 3880.2 wall= 3980.3
And the end of the output from abinis reads:
================================================================================
Calculation completed.
Delivered 9 WARNINGs and 2 COMMENTs to log file.
+Overall time at end (sec) : cpu= 971.7 wall= 991.7
So what is the problem?
Is the test too small to see the parallel efficiency?
How about the parallel implementation of GW in abinit up to now?
By the way, I want to know how large abinit can deal with
using GW method. Are there some references reporting the GW calculations using abinit?
Thanks.
Best wishes,
xianghjun
