Dear All Abinit users,
We are trying to configure a computer to run Abinit. We choose AMD athlon 64
X2 4400+ CPU, and want to use 4G Memory (four 1G sticks). Unfortunately, we
are hard to find a PC mainbroad which can support 4G memory. In mose cases,
we can not install the linux_64 OS(such as Linux redhat advanced serve 4.0,
FC3_64, FC4_64) for 4G memory. But when we use 3G memory, it's ok. Is 3G
memory enough for our calculations? We would like to calculate electric
structure of host with defects(such as BaF2 with F vacancy). So in many
cases, we must calculate super-cell, such as 2x2x2 unit cell or even larger.
How to estimate the requirement of memory in such calculations?
Thank you in advance!
