- Subject: # k-points -> # processors?
- Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2006 17:45:57 +0200
Dear ABINIT users!
I am wondering about number of k-points and number of processors.
In manuals it says that number of k-point should be relative to number of
processors.
In my calculation I use 6 k-points, so I specify 6 processors but it is not
enough memory for this job I am going to run calculation with 10 or 12
processors, (in my previous calculation when I specified # processors bigger
than # k-points I got message that it is wasting of time because # proc not
equal to # k-points).
My question is: what does it happen to the other processors if I am running
job with 6 k-points and 10 or 12 processors? Will I use only 6 processors and
others will be empty?
Thank you!
Yaroslav
