No because when I put electric field and I try to increase the number of bands
I obtain this error:

initberry: ERROR -
In a finite electric field calculation, nband must be equal
to the number of valence bands.

I can't answer about the first part of your question. Yet regarding
the number of bands you should be able to set it to any integer
greater than the number required by your system.
