(1) Right
(2) The simplest is to use either g95 or gfortran (just google for
those keywords). Yet you can also use intel fortran or many other
proprietary compilers.
(3) Very easy with both g95 and gfortran
(4) Not so easy with abinit 4.6.5. You will have to configure a file
called "Makefile_macros" before issuing a make. There is plenty of
examples of ths file for various platform in the abinit source tree.

Do I need install other math function libraries, such as fftw, blas and
