Hello,

recently JMB tryed to compile the same Abinit version on Max. He succeeded by reducing the optimisation level. I think this is the only way unless you want to disassemble XLF :-)

I took the latest tar.gz package for 5.3.4 and configure/compiled it on my
favorite Mac OSX platform (G5 powerpc xlf and a new mpich installation).

However, for abinis and abinit-gw, the compilation of the main program
crashed for levels of optimization -O2 -O3 or -O4.

Looks like a bug in the compiler (SIGBUS, cryptic word for "Bus error", itself polite word for "Segmentation fault" if I'm right). However I have no idea of the maintenance status of XLF on Mac/OSX, in other words whether it's worth to report the bug.

One may also have a look at the diff of abinit.F90 between 5.2 and 5.3. We might not be as innocent as we seem. ;-)

Best regards,

Yann.
