Hi,
If you look at the release notes of versions 5.2->5.4 (see http://www.abinit.org/package/?text=package) you will witness that conducti has been under permanent evolution since version 4.6. From the release notes you will be able to decide wether the evolution are important or not for you.
Anyway, it's always recommended to use recent version of Abinit. You will observe that the installation/compilation process has undergone tremendous simplification since V4.6. My advice is then: do not hesitate to use the latest version.
regards
PMA
