You can avoid using the posix emulation library if you both compile and 
link with the -mno-cygwin card. It will make the binaries independent of 
the cygwin1.dll library and make it run faster because posix emulation 
is absent. However I don't know if mpich will like that very much...

Atlas is not optimised for speed and GotoBlas has licensing clauses that 
prevent any binary code built with it to be distributed. It's for 
private use only.
