There exist plenty of not so perfect  fortran compilers out there.  May be you are using one of them ?
Before trying any computation it is recommended to check  the builded binaries (configure; make; cd tests; make tests_min; edit */*/report).
Have you  proceeded to the tests ? If so you must get a large serie of "passed" or "succeeded" otherwise it means that you have to try tuning your compilation options or compiler.
If the tests passe well, your problem is surprising. And following the Netiquette would be very useful. See http://www.abinit.org/about/?text=../Infos/netiquette
