I assume you mean abinit-5.4.4p?

wget ftp://ftp.abinit.org/pub/abinitio/ABINIT_v5.4.4/abinit-5.4.4p.tar.gz
tar xzf abinit-5.4.4p.tar.gz
cd abinit-5.4.4p
mkdir tmp-build
cd tmp-build
../configure
make
make install

... I admit that this quick recipe can fail for many reasons. I am
willing to arrange a more interactive help by Skype. Another solution:
use my static 32bit binaries for Linux from
http://www.etsf.be/downloads/NRL/abinit-5.6.4_ifc_pentium_m32.tar.gz
It should work with any kind of PC on all Linux distributions . Version
5.6.4 ... the last production release available, full options. Get it
from a terminal with "wget
http://www.etsf.be/downloads/NRL/abinit-5.6.4_ifc_pentium_m32.tar.gz"; or
with your favorite browser.
Untar it from a terminal with "tar xzf
abinit-5.6.4_ifc_pentium_m32.tar.gz" ... without the ""

Cheers,

Alain
