The determinant of this 3x3 matrix is the volume of the parallelipipedic supercell
defined by the three vectors whose reciprocal lattice is the set of k points.
This is a basic trick in 3D geometry : Question - given three vectors, find the volume of the
parallelipiped they define - Answer - build the determinant of the 3x3 matrix.
