- Subject: Plasma frequency calculation?

I realize that this is a FAQ, but I need a bit more clarification. I'm interested in doing some GW calculations for some hydrogen crystals I'm looking at, and I'm getting hung up on the calculation of the plasma frequency.
From searching through past posts, I know that the plasma frequency is given by
w_p = sqrt(4*pi*n*e^2/m_e)
I also found a post that says that the average electron density n is given in the abinit output, but I can't find this quantity anywhere.
Plus, even when I can calculate this, I'm having trouble making the units work out. From the tutorial, I see that the plasma frequency for Si is given as 16.7 eV, but I can't get this number to work out from the calculations I've done on Si. Heck, I can't even get the units to work.
I realize I'm probably being dense about something, and would be extremely grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, using small words that even a chemist can understand...
