Are you sure that you used gfortran 4.2.2? The stock gfortran that comes with
Fedora 8 is version 4.1.2.
Anyway, I found a machine with Fedora 8, and on it I compiled ABINIT with
gfortran 4.1.2 and ran the tests. This time I did not get the failures that I
did before, though there were some tests that failed due to fairly small
numerical differences (e.g. an absolute error of 9.99999999999482e-09 rather
than zero). No NaNs, though.
