Interesting,

I also get the "CLOSE statement is not allowed on unit 0" message when doing response function calculations on our G5, but it doesn't appear to affect results, and all the files are written correctly...

Unit 9 is the temporary file(s), and we have had a lot of problems with the NFS mounting in MacOSX. If you are doing a calculation with a remote disk, you should try to keep the tmp files and the log (stdout) on a local partition (/scratch or something). In our case this is always necessary for jobs longer than a few hours, but the crashing doesn't happen very consistently: always during the same write, but sometimes after 2 hours, sometimes 2 days... Our sysadmin had a hard time making the NFS mountings static. By default OSX always uses dynamic ones, and for some reason abinit doesn't work well with those.

Do you have a queuing system? If so which one and is it good?

Keep us posted!

Hi, I try to calculate the phonon frequencies of BaTiO3 using an input file similar to Eric J. But when I try to run it with a almost a similar input file, during response function calculation, parallel version 4.6.2 (I am not sure of the serial version also) crashes. I use a MAC G5 Darwin system. Standart error message is ...
