       I added two lines at the end of the config.h:
#define MPI  1
#define HAVE_CONFIG_H 1
       After I recompiled the source code ("-DMPI" removed from link
options), the problem persists. The rest of the compile and link options
are indicated in the .ac file in my reply to Yann. According to the
warning message "(W) Option DLINES is ignored within Fortran 90 free
form and IBM free form", I believe that the "-DHAVE_CONFIG_H" is not
processed in the right way.
