I did try abinit-5.2.4 on sr11000.

The real problem on this machine is that "./configure" fails to find 
libraries 
linked to fortran programs. So, I cannot generate makefiles by the configure 
script. (The sr11000 uses Fortran compiler from Hitachi and not original IBM 
compiler. I think that it is the source of many problems.)

I executed configure on other machine (linux box) and transfered generated 
makefiles to sr11000. I modified these makefiles by hands and succeeded to 
compile on it.

Such procedure certainly works but it is very cumbersome. Are there any 
alternative method when the configure does not work properly?
