The PGI compiler is full of bugs and - as you've just experienced - not very
stable. Your problems likely come from the compiler being unable to optimize
the code and aborting dirtily.

One possible solution would be to decrease the optimizations for the
directories involved. Details can be found in
~abinit/doc/config/build-config.ac. Look for "fcflags_opt_*".

To confirm that this is an optimization issue, you may also pass
"--enable-debug" to the configure script. the build should then succeed.

But in this case the best solution is probably to use another compiler.
